COMFORT. RELAXATION. RESPECT. EXCELLENCE.

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that causes disruptions in breathing during sleep. It can lead to a number of health problems, including high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. One treatment option for sleep apnea is the use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine, which delivers pressurized air through a mask to help keep the airway open during sleep. However, some people find CPAP machines uncomfortable or inconvenient to use and may have difficulty complying with treatment.

At TMJ Sleep Ohio, we offer alternative treatments for sleep apnea, such as oral devices. These are small, custom-fit appliances that are worn in the mouth during sleep to help keep the airway open. They are typically more comfortable and easier to use than CPAP machines, and many people find them more convenient for travel as well.

Our team at TMJ Sleep Ohio includes a doctor who is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM). The ABDSM is a professional organization that certifies dentists and other healthcare professionals in the field of dental sleep medicine, which involves the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders using oral appliance therapy.

If you are suffering from snoring or sleep apnea and are interested in exploring alternative treatment options, we encourage you to contact us for a consultation. Our team will work with you to determine the best course of treatment for your individual needs.

TMJ DISORDERS

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder is a serious but common condition affecting the jaw. Often caused by untreated sleep problems like sleep apnea, obstructive sleep apnea, misaligned bites, or facial injuries, TMJ disorder can significantly impact a patient’s quality of life and eventually lead to damaged dentition and chronic pain. By pinpointing the underlying causes of this painful condition, an effective treatment plan focused on the origin of a patient’s TMJ disorder can be developed, and future pain or damage can be mitigated.

SLEEP APNEA & SNORING

Sleep apnea is a serious condition that causes repeated moments of suffocation during sleep. This chronic suffocation degrades sleep quality, impacts daily functioning, and raises a patient’s risk of serious health problems, like heart disease. Often, the cause of sleep apnea and snoring can be linked to a restricted airway. By using noninvasive oral sleep appliances, we can reposition the jaw and tongue so that a clear the airway is restored, and undesirable symptoms are eliminated.
